Currently Working On
- LABs Project Review:
- As part of Johanna's project review initiative for the Projects Task Force, at the beginning of the week, I informed the LABs project leaders that Johanna was going to be conducting project reviews to determine the health of their project.
- Johanna finished her first batch of project reviews. This morning, I proofread the reviews, making necessary changes and sent them off to the individual project leaders for comment. Johanna has done a thorough job in her reviews, and I put sending out her findings as she finishes them.
- Salesforce Cases:
- Part of my weekly tasks involves checking cases in Salesforce. This week I had a few requests for emails, and inquires on getting wiki pages.
- Wiki accounts:
- Every morning I go through the requests for wiki accounts. Normally, this is a quick task, however, this week I had a few issues. I had two instances where emails were not confirmed and therefore I did not immediately approve them. On their end, they never received a confirmation email. While the issues were resolved, it looks like those emails are getting lost, which may be due to the use of hotmail accounts.
- Ohloh:
- With the change in name from Ohloh to Black Duck Open Hub, I alerted the staff of the change to inquire if a push for projects on Ohloh was still a priority. After speaking with Johanna, we have decided to keep moving forward with Ohloh, as it's a good tool to mark project activity. I will be working on logging projects already on Ohloh and I will start with another round of emails to project leaders about creating accounts.
- AppSec USA Social Media:
- I continue to generate tweets and Facebook posts for the conference. I'm focusing on crafting tweets that will generate more retweets.
- Social Media Spreadsheet:
- I'm hoping for more additions to the social media spreadsheet. So far there has only been one submission, but I've been trying to engage with followers on twitter more and retweeting chapter tweets.
Contract Work
- Wiki Maintenance:
- The wiki has needed some serious overhaul. Since my focus right now is on projects, I have started with project pages. So far, I have migrated half of the LABs project pages to the new template. In an effort to keep the informational integrity of the project pages, it takes quite a while to transfer information and format correctly, depending on the amount of information. I will be finishing the rest over the weekend.
- After my meetup with Michael, I will be doing more work on wiki cleanup.
- Contract Deliverables:
- I am continuing to assist Kelly with co-marketing promotions. With a few partner events coming up in the next few weeks, some of those will be ending soon.
Lessons Learned
- Perhaps as an example of why the wiki needs an overhaul, as I was sending out deliverables, it became clear that chapter pages were outdated and pretty much abandoned.
Additional Comments
This is my last report as the OWASP intern. Starting tomorrow, I will be a full time contractor with OWASP. I will continue to produce weekly reports, so that my activities are open to the community. Once I create my new page, I will link it on my intern page.
