Currently Working On

  • Project Inventory:
    • Since AppSec EU happened this week, my tasks were limited. I started my own project inventory task, in which I am cross-checking the projects wiki page, the inventory page and the spreadsheet put together earlier this year to make sure we have all project accounted for. So far, all projects have made it to every list, with a few mis-catergorized. To make the list more coherent than the previously assembled list, as I have grouped together projects based on whether they are a labs or incubator project and then based on the type of project. I added a new column to the inventory to see which projects have migrated to the new project template and who has not.
    • Going through this new project inventory allowed me to discover a project that had been abandoned with no warning from the project leader. Rather than allowing us to archive the project, the project leader deleted the contents of the project page. This is something I will be following up with on Monday.
  • Wiki Accounts:
    • This week I have started to go through the wiki account requests. From now on, I will be going through the request first thing in the morning. Kate Hartmann seemed quite pleased that I am taking over this task.
  • OWASP Emails:
    • Another task I will be taking over is the email requests in Salesforce. Now, anyone who emails asking for an OWASP email account, I will be setting up those accounts.
  • Contract Work:
    • I have a few contracts to work on, involving social media copies mostly.
    • I have also been deduping accounts in Salesforce.
  • Project Announcements and the Connector:
  • I've started work on the Connector for next week. I didn't have any project announcements to put in, so I took to the Leader Mailing list to ask for their project announcements. I received some great feed back, and it'll be great to have some awesome news about what OWASP is doing out there.

Lessons Learned

  • I didn't realize how many requests for wiki accounts come in on a daily basis. This is something I need to keep up with on a daily basis.
  • While there is a proper way to abandon a project, not all project leaders are either aware of these procedures or they don't care to go through with process.

Additional Comments

I got so many responses about project announcements, that I will most likely have to break up the announcements between Connectors. I'm excited that I got such positive responses from project leaders.
