My name is Umar Javed and I live and work in London, England. I've been working in the industry for almost 8 years and my experience spans property, professional services, law and most recently ecommerce. I have a passion (without sounding cliche) to learn and develop as an individual to not only better myself but to deliver better solutions for the talented people I've worked with.

What does technology mean for me?

Technology is more than a passion for me, it's a boundless ambition to innovate, reach out, communicate and to share knowledge and experiences. I've been fortunate enough to have worked with some of the brightest and forwarding thinking minds in my career and these experiences have engrained a culture of developing solutions that deliver tangible and intangible benefits to an organisation, fostering an environment of consistent and positive change and feeding into IT strategy to realise objectives which are critical to the success of the business.

From a business perspective I actively engage with my colleagues across the varying functional units from warehouse operations staff up to director level, this provides me with a holistic overview of the technology employed- at strategic through to operational level, and how we can make better use of it to draw efficiencies from the technical solutions or the processes that support the underlying technology.

What am I working on at the moment?

I have been working on utilising the CMMI-SVC process improvement program and ITIL to develop new and refine existing processes. I believe these are important in establishing in the short term as our service offerings rapidly increase and reach maturity.

A white paper on Service Operation Schema (SOS) which aims to quantify impact and facilitate support mechanisms that are critical to the running the business. I aim to release my whitepaper in early 2014.
