Noreen was the Community Manager for the OWASP Foundation from November 2014 until April 2016. She is currently the Information Lead for the OWASP Learning Gateway Project and a chapter leader for OWASP Brooklyn. To promote outreach and evaluate potential technologies and partnerships, Noreen and fellow OLG team members, John Ulmer and Janine Medina, represented OWASP at the Gateways 2016 conference at the San Diego Supercomputer Center in November 2016. The team presented the OWASP Learning Gateway project during formal sessions and Noreen led a mentoring session during the open breakout sessions on the final day of the event. Noreen is active in the OWASP Mentoring Committee, serving as a mentor in the Brooklyn chapter as well as developing the overall mentoring program as a way to bring in new members and develop the skills of those entering or transitioning to the field. She is also a member of Women in Appsec (WIA).

She has a strong background in nonprofit technology management, user experience, open source community management and mentoring. She has created mentoring programs for the Information Architecture Institute, Columbia University and the IA Institute and currently serves as a mentor with OWASP and the NYC User Experience Professionals Association. She is the Chief of Operations for Decision Fish, a financial wellness application. Prior to that she served as a user experience consultant to the Identity Ecosystem Steering Group developing user experience testing procedures for the IDEF Registry, which was created to fulfill the a White House's National Strategy for Trusted Identity in Cyberspace. She served for many years as the Operations Manager at the Information Architecture Institute and as a technology management and web design consultant. Earlier in her career she spent five years with PricewaterhouseCoopers as Operations Manager for their global website team. Prior to the merger, she served seven years at Price Waterhouse as a real estate research associate, specializing in real estate information technology, geographic information systems and intranet development.

She serves in many advisory and working group roles including the Board of Directors of GISMO-the NYC regional chapter of the NY State GIS Association, Advisor to Technology Transfer Days and Open Camps, including the Unite for Humanity Hackathon at the UN, the User Experience Committee of the ID EcoSystem Working Group, and the myMETRO Advisory Council of the Metropolitan New York Library Council. She hosts local events for the Information Architecture and Semiotics Web Meetup Groups and is an organizer for the Behavioral Economics NYC Meetup. Whether mentoring or serving in a formal advisory role, Noreen always promotes OWASP and OWASP materials and projects.

Noreen holds a Master of Science in Library and Information Science from Pratt Institute and has a BA in Psychology from Columbia University. She lives with her husband and two children in New York City, and is still trying to get her 20-year old game designer daughter to consider a cybersecurity career.
