I'm a old, very experienced identity architect. I've led many large, complex identity projects including Boeing, Capital One and the Government of Alberta's Digital Citizen Identity and Authentication.

I've been thinking and writing about identity verification since 2005. In early 2006, I wrote my first paper "The Challenges with Identity Verification".

This past year, I've written 19 papers on creating a new legal framework for identity, data and consent given the technological tsunami wave approaching us caused by AI. AR. VR, robots (both virtual and physical) and human cloning. As part of this, I began to contemplate how we are going to identify both virtual and physical robots. On my website https://www.hvl.net/papers.htm, you'll find three papers of interest:

  • Legally Identifying Robots (Robot Identification)
  • Rapidly Scaling Robot Identification?
  • Legal Person: Humans, Clones, Virtual and Physical AI Robotics – New Privacy Principles

In them, I propose creation of a "Robot Identification Unit" or RIU. This MUST be secure. I'm also proposing robots be legally registered in a new age civil registration system.
