Pat Kenny was one of several well known faces to attend the launch along with Eddie Hobbs, Bill Cullen, Charlie McCreevy and Minister Richard Bruton.

"It is a remarkably frank autobiography," Kenny said. "I could never write a memoir so I fully applaud and admire anyone does so."

"There's the making of a TV series in this," Kenny added. "Trust me."

The book charts Yates life from his childhood in Enniscorthy and early entry into politics to the financial difficulties he experienced with the demise of his bookmaking company Celtic Bookmakers.

"It's definitely not a banal autobiography," the 'big man from Blackstoops' said.

"But I stand over everything I have written." Yates will hold a second launch in the Hotel Ferrycarrig in Wexford on Monday.
