  • AppSec EU: Open Source Showcase
    • The AppSec EU team is now accepting applications for the Open Source Showcase (OSS).
    • The OSS is an event module that gives Open Source project leaders the opportunity to showcase their work at the conference.
    • You do not need to be an OWASP Project leader to apply for this opportunity.
    • The application form can be found here.
  • AppSec EU: Women in AppSec
    • I have gotten the go ahead to start seeking sponsorship for the Women in AppSec Program for AppSec EU.
    • The goal is to raise $6000 for two winners to attend AppSec EU 2014.

  • Project Summit 2014 Planning
    • We have now opened up the call for sessions for the 2014 Project Summit taking place in Cambridge, UK.
    • I am working closely with Adrian Winckles and the Anglia Ruskin University team to sort out on-site logistics.
    • I am not getting quite a few interested attendees, and Kait is working on an application form to manage the attendee requests.

  • Women in AppSec: AppSec APAC 2014
    • We are now finalizing the Women in AppSec selection process for AppSec APAC 2014.
    • We have now closed the application process, and are in the process of selecting the winners.
    • I am currently working closely with Robert Dracea to make sure our logistics are in order.
    • We hope to finalize travel arrangements and training applications by the end of this week.

CactusCon Training Opportunity: Message from Jim Manico

One of the free BSides conferences is CactusCon on taking place on April 4th. http://www.cactuscon.com/about : This is a free non-profit conference.

Jim had intended to give a free developer trainer there, but had to back out. Is there anyone interested in giving a free secure develpoment seminar or training in Phoenix on April 4th and represent OWASP? Java Encoder 1.1.1 Released!: Message from A. J. Scotka

The OWASP Java Encoder is a Java 1.5 simple-to-use drop-in high-performance encoder class with no dependencies and little baggage. This project will help Java web developers defend against Cross Site Scripting! The OWASP Java Encoder 1.1.1 has now been released. Hacking ZAP Blog Series: Message from Simon Bennetts

Simon has just written a series of blog posts about "Hacking ZAP" ie changing the ZAP source code: http://zaproxy.blogspot.co.uk/2014/03/hacking-zap-1-why-should-you.html

One thing he would love to see is more OWASP projects making use of ZAP as a framework. ZAP provides a powerful set of features that your tool can build on. As one of the leading webapp security tools is can provide more exposure for your project. You can still keep full control of your project, releasing is as a stand alone tool and integrating it with any other security tools.
