Projects/Internships/Weekly Report 10 25 2013
From OWASP
Grants and Fundraising Intern Weekly Report
Currently Working On
- Project Summit Pages
- Attendee pages: I have been updating the list of the attendees as they register for Project Summit sessions. I have also been adding bios of attendees to the bios page.
- This week, I have created new pages for Project Summit Sessions that were recently added. That included adding the details of the session on the sessions page and creating a working session page for the projects.
- Assignment on-going
- Social Media
- Monday, Wednesday and Friday I sent out tweets every 15 minutes starting at 11am to promote the Project Summit and Project Talks. I also sent out Facebook messages about both, and drafted a blog post about the Project Summit and Project Talks.
- Emails were sent out to about 30 project mailing lists about the Project Summit.
- Assignment on-going
- Budget Tables and Attendee Pages
- I put together a wiki table outlining the budget for the Project Summit based on estimates for various services and food I collected.
- I also put together two wiki tables outlining the availability of leaders for the Project Summit and the budget for their travel/hotel expenses.
- Assignment complete
- Estimates
- For the Project Summit, I got quotes for various items and services needed for the Project Summit. This included finding three pizza joints around the conference hotel and getting quotes, quoting beverages, printing services and office material.

Lessons Learned
- No spamming.
- It is nearly impossible to find a keg provider in Manhattan, but very easy to find one in Brooklyn.
- I'm getting much better at tables, but it seems the only thing I can manage is rainbow colored tables.
- Templates will never work the way I intend when using them to create tables.
- On professional sites, people will at times use unprofessional pictures. Find the most professional-looking picture for the attendees page.
- Everyone wants to participate in the Bug Bounty Session.
- Every wiki table has room for more columns.
- GoTo Meeting is not compatible with Chrome OS, and therefor I cannot use my laptop for meetings. I can only use my phone or my desktop computer for meetings.
Additional Comments
- Listening to audio books while creating tables keeps me from freaking out when my table doesn't go right the first time.
- I'm getting more excited about AppSec.
