Projects/Internships/Weekly Report 07 03 2014
From OWASP
Currently Working On
- Project Inventory:
- For the last week, I have been transferring projects to JIRA, and have finished with all the active projects. I started adding the inactive projects and will continue until all projects are added. From there, Johanna has a plan for these projects in JIRA, but she is on holiday until the 12th and she will update me then.
- Wiki accounts:
- Every morning as I start my day, I go through the request for wiki accounts. If the emails have been confirmed, I approve the wiki account. If after two weeks the email account has not been confirmed, I reject the request. If those who requested an account so wish, they can request an account again.
- Salesforce cases:
- Kate has been assigning me cases that involve approving new projects, requests for email accounts and project questions. With each project request, I review the information and then go about setting up a new project page using the new wiki template and filling in the information with the details provided by the new project leader. If the project leader does not have an OWASP email, I set up a new email for them. Each new project I also assign a new mailing list for the project and assign the ownership of the mailing list to the new project leader via their new email.
- Occasionally, someone will request an OWASP email. They may be part of an OWASP project but are not a leader and did not have an email set up or they no longer have access to their email.
- I did have a few project questions in Salesforce. This usually just involves either answering the questions as well as I can, or I reach out to the project leader for answers.
- Intern and Contract Report:
- Sarah asked that the staff write up a report for the Board to be presented at the next meeting. With my internship ending soon, I summed up what I have been working on recently.
Lessons Learned
- With a day off at the end of the week, my entire schedule has been thrown off.
- In the weeks following the AppSec EU conference, my work load has been rather small. I have been trying to keep myself as busy as possible. With a small work load with my internship and a growing work load for my contract work, it is difficult to keep the two separate and thus it is harder to keep my hours separate.
Additional Comments
Starting next week, my hours will be shifted to the evening and weekend as I am starting a new job with a tech company. I will continue my work with OWASP, and my work will be unchanged.
