Projects/Internships/Weekly Report 05 09 2014
From OWASP
Currently Working On
- Project Inventory:
- The last reminder emails concerning the project inventory were sent out on Tuesday and Thursday. Project leaders have until the end of the day to respond to the emails I've sent out with updates about their projects or starting tomorrow I will make the project inactive.
- A few project leaders have responded last minute, but I am still waiting on several project leaders to respond with updates.
- Social Media Campaigns:
- This week I created the Tweets and Facebook posts for the participating projects in the Open Source Showcase and the Project Summit.
- I also sent out tweets for the Women in AppSec Program.
- The Open Source Showcase entries are now completely full and there is a great batch of projects that will part of the Open Source Showcase at AppSec EU.
- There is still one open spot in the Project Summit. We had a great Project Summit last year, and I think this year's Project Summit will be even better.
- I crafted individual session tweets for the Project Summit and the Open Source Showcase. I will have a more comprehensive tweeting schedule next week, but I will be posting regularly on Facebook up until AppSec EU.
- 'OWASP Connector:
- On Tuesday, I put together the projects sections for the next OWASP Connector. This is something I have been doing for the last several weeks.
Lessons Learned
- It's difficult to get Project Leaders to respond, and I discovered that one of the issues is that many do not check their OWASP emails frequently. With no alternative emails to reach them, they miss out on information we are sending out.
- I've made the switch from TweetDeck to HootSuite, since the tweet scheduling on TweetDeck stopped functioning on me. HootSuite is working out much better and is way more reliable.
Additional Comments
- I'm working on a social media campaign outside of OWASP for the Women in Technology Summit as a volunteer. I feel so up on the social media right now.
- It's Mothers Day this Sunday, so hug your mother if you can. Mine will get a phone call, since she's across the country from me. If she can get the computer machine to work, perhaps we'll Skype.
