Project and Program Intern Weekly Report

Currently Working On

  • Blackstone Veterans Grant:
    • I finalized a draft of the grant proposal I am putting together for a new program. The grant deadline is about two weeks off, so I wanted to make sure the proposal was ready for review and editing by the end of this week.
    • Samantha and Kate will be looking over what I have written and refine it to give OWASP the best possible chance of getting the grant.
  • New Template Migration:
    • It is highly probable that anyone with a project has received an email from me this week about the new project template for the wiki. The new template looks super great and it makes finding information about projects so much easier.
    • A few projects have recently been adopted and I have migrated the project info to the new template, and through the course of the template migration will be available to help project leaders with template migration.
  • Inactive Projects:
    • To clean up the inactive projects pages, I added new banners to the top of each inactive page that links to the project adoption page. I also removed the old banners that were still on some project pages.
  • Android Dev Program:
    • Some OWASP leaders have expressed interest in participating in the Android Dev Program, so I did a little digging to find out more about the program. The website is very well laid out and makes the program easy to navigate and obtain information.
    • The registration fee for publishing apps is affordable at $25 for individuals or as a business.
  • Book for Lulu:
    • This was a quick task; I put together a book for the Threat Model for Secure Password Storage. It had been a while since I worked on Lulu, and it's always a headache, but the book came out well.

Lessons Learned

  • Lulu doesn't change, it's still a headache.
  • When emailing project leaders about the template migration, I discovered that a few projects should no longer be an incubator stage because for whatever reason those projects are no longer being worked on.
  • For the most part though, everyone loves the new template.

Additional Comments

  • More AppSecs like AppSec California. I was only able to attend Monday, but we could not have asked for more perfect weather or a more perfect location right on the beach.
