Opposing South African CyberCrimes Bill
Creating Opposing South African CyberCrimes Bill
As a initiative of OWASP Cape town chapter we have been actively involved in opposing the proposed CYBER CRIMES AND CYBERSECURITY BILL. As concerned citizens we identify the need for this bill, but the rush to get this bill out the door has created dangerous potential consequences. Government should redraft the bill with consultation from private partnerships, to ensure the accuracy and viability of the bill.
Participation
We call on the South African community to assist us in opposing this bill by sending a publicly created document, with comments on the bill OWASP public comments.
In co-operation with [www.privacyonline.co.za Mark Heyink] (Advocate and cissp) created various sources to assist the public in understanding and interpreting the Bill.
The bill is open to comments until the 30th of November 2015, but beyond this date we will start a active media campaign with social media and print/tv/online media sources to oppose this bill and call for its redrafting.
