Four Questions for Validating a Core Value

  1. Will it inspire and guide?
  2. Is it a genuinely sacred and enduring tenet that is not subject to frequent change?
  3. Does it define who we are rather than where we are going?
  4. If penalized for holding the value, will we still keep it?
  5. Is it commonly found in open source organizations?
