Brendan is Director of Security Engineering at Mastercard and has 18 years' experience in information systems and security across a variety of in-house and consultancy roles.

Brendan is a member of the OWASP Dublin board and has been instrumental in organising many of the chapter's monthly speaker events. This included identifying and co-ordinating speakers, arranging suitable venues, and publicising the events through multiple social media channels. Attendance at the events has been excellent, with between 200-300 people at a number of different locations.

As part of the OWASP Dublin outreach efforts, Brendan has delivered application security awareness sessions to groups from local companies to help them understand the importance of integrating security into their operations. Brendan has also provided public and in-house training on various secure development topics such as cryptography, XXE attacks, XSS and PCI-DSS.

He has acted as mentor for both the American Chamber of Ireland's Future Leaders Hackathon and Dublin City University's Structured Mentorship Programme.

Within Mastercard, Brendan leads a team of security engineers who perform various architecture and design tasks, and ensure that security controls are incorporated into all systems and applications. Previous roles include Senior Security Consultant in Ward Solutions and Rits Information Security, and Systems Engineer in Hewlett-Packard.

Brendan's professional qualifications include CISSP, CSSLP and CISM. He also holds a B.Eng. in Electronic Engineering from Dublin City University and an M.Sc. in Software Engineering from Maynooth University.
