Session Details/Agenda:
10:45 AM - 11:00 AM: News Bytes by Arpit Maheshwari
11:00 AM - 11:15 AM: Introduction
11:15 AM - 12:40 PM: Security & Privacy In the Age of Surveillance by Ankit Prateek
Abstract: Surveillance, as it promises more security at the cost of people's liberty and freedom, is in fact causing more insecurity. As put forward by Edward Snowden in his massive leaks of NSA surveillance, the attacks kept happening irrespective of this surveillance in place and the attacks which were stopped, counting a mere few, were in fact stopped using the old conventional methods. With our country's surveillance that has already shaped up, here's something to think about. Is your liberty and freedom worth compromising for? If not, how can one maintain a privately secure life.
This talk aims at encouraging people to think for themselves with valid facts in front of them and to help those with the "I've nothing to hide" syndrome.
12:40 PM - 12:55 PM: Tea/Coffee/Networking Break
