Walter D. Dula hails from Hackensack, NJ where he was educated in the Hackensack public school system. He is the only child of Walter (deceased) and Cassie Dula. Walter has three children, Kimber (24) a VSU alum, Al (19), and Brandon (13). Al is in college at Mercy Hurst in Erie, Pennsylvania and Brandon is a 9th grader at DeMatha High School in Hyattsville, MD. Walter graduated from Virginia State University in Petersburg, VA with a Bachelor of Science of Information Systems & Decision Sciences with a minor in Networking. In 2004, he received his MBA with a concentration in Management from American Intercontinental University. He’s a PhD student at Walden University with research interests in Information Security/Assurance and Knowledge Management. Walter started his career in 1992 as a consultant. He’s held several operational positions within managed services, manufacturing, Technology and healthcare in New York, New Jersey, Minneapolis, Atlanta, Virginia, Maryland, and DC. In 1997, he became the youngest CIO of Ault Manufacturing in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. In August 1999 he became the Director of Network Operations of Interland, Inc. now Web.com in Atlanta, GA providing leadership to the organization’s information technology and hosting functions. In 2001, Walter shifted gears and began an educational career in Higher Education as an Assistant Professor in Technology. He additionally, advised small businesses in management and technology. Additionally, Walter has served as a coordinator over the mentor program of the 100 Black Men of South Metro Atlanta. He’s served the community for over 24 years as a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Walter has delivered curriculum for traditional, for-profits, and historically black colleges & universities. In 2011, Walter moved to Washington, DC. to consult for minority federal contracting firms on location at the Department of Education, HUD, USDA, NIH, the Veteran’s Affairs within the Office of Cyber Security, and now with SRA Int’l where he provides InfoSec expertise for the National Cancer Insitute. He delivered curriculum for Morris Brown, DeVry, Brown Mackie, Westwood, Strayer Universities and now Post University. His work with USA Science and Engineering Festival and STEM4US has increased his aspirations to continue to educate youth in the technology space towards an achieving their dreams.
