OWASP Project Manager Role
The main responsibility of the OWASP project manager is to support the OWASP project leaders (volunteers) in starting and running their Projects. Additionally, this position will coordinate and execute grant funding applications and their allocations for OWASP Projects.
Leadership and Management
- Create and maintain an OWASP Projects Handbook for new and existing OWASP project leaders
- Supply metrics on project activities and requirements
- Serve as the single point of contact for project leaders, reviewers, and end users
- Operational follow-up of all OWASP project related questions
- Develop, implement and maintain the OWASP projects infrastructure
- Set up, maintain and facilitate the OWASP projects review process
- Develop, implement and facilitate the OWASP project graduation process
Technical Support
- Assist with setting up new project wiki templates
- Document "how to" guides for project managers using the wiki template
- Assist with setting up new projects
- Setup and maintenance of an OWASP projects dashboard with health metrics
- Keep detailed, up-to-date record of all active and non-active OWASP projects
Outreach and Communication
- Promote and support the international translation and application of OWASP projects
- Attend OWASP conferences to facilitate project leaders collaboration
- Coordinate the Open Source Showcase at Global Conferences
- Coordinate the OWASP Project Track at Global Conferences
- Provide monthly status updates to the board
- Contribute to the Annual Report as necessary
Finance
- Provide input into the annual Foundation budget
- Monitor project budget requests and approve if appropriate
- Seek out and secure project and/or Foundation grant opportunities
- Manage and monitor grant spending for projects awarded funds
Required experience:
- the candidate should be familiar with the OWASP projects (desired)
- the candidate has at least 5 years experience in setting up or running open source projects him/herself
- the candidate should have excellent presentation, verbal and writing communication skills in - at least - English. Active or passive knowledge of other languages would be great.
- the candidate should be patient and sensitive towards cross-cultural communications.
- the candidate should have experience with managing global and remote teams
- the candidate should be able to work with Google applications, Salesforce, Office and MediaWiki (required). Familiarity with MediaWiki templates in particular will be required for execution of duties.
- the candidate is a driven, self-motivated person with a determination to achieve OWASP focused objectives/goals.
- the candidate is a team player with high integrity, confidence and maturity.
- having a project manager certification (e.g. PMP or Prince2) is a plus, not mandatory
