--[[User:Versprite|VerSprite]] 18:42, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

It seems like summer travel got the best of our members schedule last meeting, so we are planning to regroup for an early September meeting.  I am trying to still lock down top notch key note speakers for our chapter and have initial conversations with Joe Gersch (Secure64 Computing) and Jeremiah Grossman (Whitehat Security), but nothing concrete.  As part of an allure for any speakers to commit, we all have to spread the word on our group's efforts and monthly meets.  Do your part by simply spreading the word at work, school, or amongst professional events outside of work.

Until our next meeting, spread the word on OWASP and get involved.  From financial contributions or soliciting sponsorship to your current or former employers, please get involved.  Your participation fuels the ongoing success of future events and workshops.  Ultimately, all of our efforts benefit the greater Atlanta security community.

Last, put your money where your time is. Support your local chapter with a formal membership to a great non-profit organization aimed to elevate web application security.  Please note that other chapters have the luxury to charge their members for attending some of their meetings.  We hope that you find historical and future meetings to be of value and show support via a member based contribution. == '''Join OWASP ATL via our Meetup Group'''  ==
I had a chance to meet up with Dr. Johannes Ullrich (SANS) at a recent event he spoke at and he informed me that SANS is providing a free training session in ATL in August, featuring Dr. Eric Cole – lead security instructor for SANS.  Spaces are limited but the event is sure to be informative and a great opportunity to socialize OWASP with other security groups in the Atlanta area.  Spaces are limited so be sure to lock in a seat at this event in August.  If you sign up, please indicate that you will be representing OWASP ATL. The 411 is in the Chapter Meetings tab under Future Meetings.

As many of you know, we are steering OWASP-Atlanta to crank out some meaningful case studies with metrics. As part of the planning that goes into this, we have spoken to a few organizations that have expressed interest in gaining our expertise on an array of security topics that revolve around web application securityOn our part, we need to formalize our A-Team in order to see who would be available for which types of case-study genresIf you are interested in partaking on this team, please let me know. You can reach me at tonyuv [at] versprite [dot] com.

So we have hit a bit of a lull over the past two months as you can probably tell. August meeting was really low attendance and September was a non-event since I largely have been out of town and so have a lot of the other co-leads.  Nonetheless, get ready to resume meetings.  Next one is Dec 15th at the Tilted Kilt @ Cumberland.  Make a note and check out details in the Chapter Meetings page above.

FYI - We are trying to reach out to more developers, quality assurance engineers, and software architects so if you have colleagues in those areas, please invite them to come. For next meeting information, please visit the Chapter Meetings tab and RSVP in the link provided.
