We encourage individuals to provide knowledge transfer via hands-on training and presentations of specific OWASP projects and research topics and sharing SDLC knowledge. OWASP Northern Virginia has almost 1000 members with a wide range of experience and backgrounds. We are also one of the two hosts with OWASP DC, hosting the 2016 OWASP AppSec USA Conference in Washington, DC. We'll be looking for members to help volunteer during the next few months.

While Jeff lives up in Maryland, this is the first time he has had a chance to visit or speak at one of our chapter meetings. Please make an effort to attend. I ask for a small donation to cover some of the costs for the pizza/drinks, but all are welcome to  join us.

Meetings are (generally) held the first Thursday of the month.
Take the Dulles Access Road and exit to Route 7 East. After the first light on Route 7, begin merging left, and make a left turn onto Westpark Drive. Go up the hill one block to the next light and turn right on Greensboro. You can see the campus a block up on your right. To park, turn right on Solutions Drive just before the campus and then thrun left into the vistor lot.

The original DC Chapter was founded in June 2004 by [mailto:[email protected] Jeff Williams] and has had members from Virginia to Delaware. In April 2005 a new chapter, OWASP Washington VA Local Chapter, was formed and the DC Chapter was renamed to DC-Maryland. The two are sister chapters and include common members and shared discourse. The chapters meet in opposite halves of the month to facilitate this relationship.

Participation

OWASP Foundation (Overview Slides) is a professional association of global members and is open to anyone interested in learning more about software security. Local chapters are run independently and guided by the Chapter_Leader_Handbook. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit professional association your support and sponsorship of any meeting venue and/or refreshments is tax-deductible. Financial contributions should only be made online using the authorized online chapter donation button. To be a SPEAKER at ANY OWASP Chapter in the world simply review the speaker agreement and then contact the local chapter leader with details of what OWASP PROJECT, independent research or related software security topic you would like to present on.
