Volunteer at OWASP

Volunteering on an OWASP project, global initiative and local chapter activities is a rewarding experience. You will work with application security professionals in your area and around the world and fulfill our mission to spread application security awareness.

OWASP Global Initiatives

OWASP Global Initiatives provides an overview of the activity at OWASP worldwide and ways you can participate. The initiatives page describes activities in the following areas:

  • Membership
  • Education
  • Chapters
  • Conferences
  • Projects
  • Social Media and Communications
  • Industry Relationships
  • Research

Please visit our Global Initiatives page to find out how you can get involved.

OWASP Project Opportunities

OWASP projects are community driven and most projects are open for anyone motivated to join. The first step is to find a project you would like to be part of. The list of all projects can be found in the Project Inventory. You may also have an idea for a project that you would like to submit. Read Starting a new Project and let us know what you would like to do.

See a list of Open Project Opportunities.

OWASP Chapter Opportunities

Many of our inactive chapters require leaders to restart OWASP activities. If you are in one of these areas or if there is no OWASP Chapter in your area, we would love to hear from you.

Education and Student Program Opportunities

From academic support and outreach to student leadership, OWASP has numerous opportunities for volunteers interested in education.

  • [Academic Supporter|Academic Supporters] are university representatives who support OWASP through integrating our materials into the educational curriculum. They can also support local chapters by providing classroom and auditorium space for events and opportunities to present to students studying application security and computer science.
  • Student Chapters allow students to engage as application security leaders. Our program provides wiki space and materials for student chapters as well as a networking link to our local professional chapters.
  • OWASP Training program allows anyone who is interested in promoting OWASP application security trainings to participate as trainers and speakers.
