An appeal from Jim Manico (OWASP Podcast Project Leader)

I've donated a great deal of my time to OWASP over the last years. But what really stands out in my mind is how OWASP has given me so much more in return.

Through OWASP email lists and conferences, I've had the chance to interact with some of the brightest minds in the world of web application security.

Through OWASP guides and standards, I've had the chance to gain a deep understanding of the threats that face todays web applications.

Through OWASP software libraries and other tools, I've had the chance to hone my skills as a developer of secure web applications.

When you sponsor an OWASP leader to attend an OWASP working summit, you do more than help that one individual. Sponsoring an OWASP summit attendee has a ripple effect that benefits the 10's of thousands of developers and security professionals who utilize OWASP resources to reduce application risk on a global scale.

My OWASP affiliation over the past several years has been a gift, one that I am very grateful for.

Why Sponsor the Summit Participants

As the face of application threats continues to grow, we need your help. This February, we begin a new era of our mission by convening at the OWASP Global Summit in Lisbon, Portugal. Many of our attendees fund their own way in order to spend a week of work, research and talks that will shape the next iteration of tools and deliverables for the global security community to share. As part of this effort, we need your financial support in order to get all of our top leaders present. This personal request is one that asks you to consider any monetary support for mobilizing our global leadership community to convene in less than a month. Please act today and you'll help to support the ongoing efforts of a growing non-profit that has given so much and is ready to give much more through its tools, research, frameworks, and much more.

How Can You Help?

As of January 10, 2011, after having spent much for organizing our global summit, we are still short of our goal. The current shortfall is what separates many of our top leaders/contributors from attending the Summit in February. If you are a company and would like to sponsor a leader, you can make a difference with your pledge today. Funds are used to subsidize their travel to and accommodations at the week-long working session. Our leaders and top contributors selflessly donate their time and Application Security knowledge to provide guides, tools, and other resources that benefit governments and companies all over the world. If you have benefited from the free materials at OWASP, please consider supporting our Summit today!

Here are some of the leaders/contributor that need your support in order to be present at the Summit:
