New page

I began writing software on an Apple II in 1981. I graduated at the top of my class from DeVry Institute of Technology in 1988. I worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City and learned great disaster recovery and planning skills while there along with project management skills. I was primarily a coder in Cobol, Visual Basic, and Microsoft SQL Server. I taught classes on Visual Basic and SQL Server full-time for several years. During that time I co-authored a few books on Microsoft SQL Server and I also discovered SQL Injection during that time. That was around 1997, and the term SQL Injection did not exist, but I understood the risk. Since that time I have served as a software architect and developer leading small teams to develop solutions for resale to other companies. I have often given talks at conferences on SQL Injection and hardening database, network, and application security.
