In my present role as IT Support Manager for a major UK University I provide a liaison role between IT and the business and have an understanding of business requirements, IT operations and some exposure to development and project processes. In the past I have overseen and managed a variety of IT projects, ensuring IT projects comply with architecture security and that they best provide return on investment aligning to both business and IT strategy.

I represented IT within the different business teams such as HR and Finance by maintaining a high degree of visibility within the business and attending business meetings and appropriate management forums, providing a central point of information for all related IT activities. Representing the business needs and interests within IT, contributing to appropriate IT team, operational and development meetings.

I maintain a knowledge of the key business people, processes and systems employed by the University, particularly the role of IT in student Registration.

I maintain an up to date, understanding of both Business and IT strategy and I assist with the prioritisation of projects, proactively managing business demand.

I work with the infrastructure teams to develop the information technology architecture model by being able to make objective recommendations regarding the relative fit of technology to business need.

I would like to strengthen both my technical and management understanding of security/cyber security principles and OWASP seemed a good forum to learn and meet like minded colleagues.
