New page

Hi,

Hacking for 30 years! Information Security professional with specialisms in hacking, digital forensics, networking, architecture and compliance.

I'm a IT Security specialist who enjoys working with others to solve difficult problems, creating tangible impact on shareholder value and business risk. I am the kind of person that brings groups together to achieve more than the sum of the parts, shares victories and redoubles efforts against setbacks. I either lead from the front or follow the pack - always a contributor, never a bystander.

I have a strong analytical mind and surprisingly broad and deep knowledge in security and IT generally. I understand and plan for the long-game, absorbing the detail necessary to succeed long-term through seeking out and delivering the quick wins which ensure momentum.

I'm considered an expert (by others!) in a very wide set of technologies, usually I self-teach and promptly apply skills practically. I particularly enjoy building systems of security defenses which together interlock and overlap to provide an effective layered defense to general or specific threats. This might suggest I prefer to create 'from scratch', but it's more common, challenging and rewarding to understand and improve established systems and procedures.

My routine keeps me sharp, on top of latest developments in Security and general Information Technology. For example, my Raspberry Pi has been re-purposed many times, though right now serves as a supplementary motion detecting security camera at home.

I started programming computers when I was 11 years old and immediately became fascinated with cyber security, since then continuously raising my game - ferociously learning for myself and patiently mentoring others.

I hammered my personal goal for 2014 and 2015 - completing 28 (!) Tough Mudder obstacle courses and attaining the elite '10x Black Headband' status. I am now awaiting the Super-Elite 25x+ !
